Update

So, its been a while. Things have been busy busy here in the FLA. So today, I will make a list of everything that has been going on the past few days....

- Mom's doctor's appointments. The DR. told her that she needed to have surgery again on Monday of last week. They got her in on Thursday of last week, thank goodness. They put a wound vac in, so hopefully this third surgery will hold true to "Third Times a Charm"

- Christmas shopping. We had to get all of our Christmas shopping done before her surgery, so on Tuesday night of last week, we hit the mall. We got it ALL done that night, well except for a few little things, which we picked up on Saturday.

- Finishing grad school applications and essays. I don't think I had to work this hard to get into an undergrad program. There are essays that have been written, applications that have been filled out and now I am waiting to take my GMAT on January 13th. Can you say stressed?? Which brings me to my next item...

- Studying. Its been a while since I had to study for something. I have been studying each and every day, in the mornings, in the evenings....I just feel like I am not catching on to anything. And then I have days where I feel like I can do it, so we shall see. The Quantitative section of the test is KILLING me!

- Work. This has proven to be the biggest challenge over the past few weeks. January is such a busy and stressful time, and it just brings out the worst in people. Let's just say that, if I make it through the next month without having a mental breakdown, I will be doing pretty good.

- Trying to stay relaxed and enjoying the Holidays! I love the holidays, I love relaxing, but I keep thinking about this HUGE test and how well I have to do on it to obtain my goal, and it just freaks me out. I have made a back up plan, but I want my number 1!

Anywho, that's all I have been up to. With a party here, and a get together there, that's been about it.

Oh, and I picked up my bridesmaid's dress for Ali's wedding yesterday. Forgot to mention, that her LOVELY face will be here on FRIDAY! I can't wait to see her. Oh yea, and she is my HOT date for NYE :)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!!! :)

Random Monday

This weekend was full of festive activities:

The Rockettes this weekend were amazing! If you haven't seen them, you MUST. They were very, very tall girls and man could they dance!

I got to visit Houston and Dallas this weekend--through Skype!! I got to talk with Kelly and Joey and then the net night with Ali, who I haven't seen since, well I'm not sure how long but a pretty long time! Ali- it was so good finally 'meeting' Mat and y'all seeing me looking pretty saweet :) Kel, it was a fabulous time seeing your new home!!! Its fab for sure!

The annual Mayhew Christmas partay was so much fun! Glad to catch up with some old friends- even though all of them couldn't make it down to the Sunshine state.

We got our Christmas trees this weekend. They are still undecorated, but hopefully, this evening will change all of that. I went on a cleaning spree last night- which was def needed.

The bowl games were announced last night. And in case you missed it, Georgia is playing in the Autozone Liberty bowl in Memphis- we are facing UCF. UCF has a chance, so this may be a good game. I am just thankful that the Gaytors didn't end up getting the Gator Bowl. In years past, the Gator Bowl was for Big Ten and ACC schools. But this year, the ACC is out and the SEC is in! So, I was secretly hoping for that game for us but hey, at least I don't have to sell my tickets because Florida is playing in it. The Gator Bowl will host Michigan and Mississippi State. And, an SEC team that doesn't start with Gay and end in tors is playing for the National Championship. YAY Auburn for making it to the Ship! I hope they beat those Ducks!

Tonight will be consumed with GG and writing essays and decorating the trees! I forgot how much fun writing essays can be :)

ICE in Florida

Happy Thursday lovelies! This morning, as I was leaving my casa for work, I got into my car and went to drive away and looked through my windshield. I remind you, I live in the state of Florida, where people flee to in the winter. THERE WAS ICE COVERING MY WINDSHIELD. I had to wait until it had melted away so that I could drive to work. It was 29 degrees this morning when I left for work. No, you didn't misread, 29. WOW. The cold weather is nice in December, I guess I just am not used to it!

Early this morning I had a meeting that was a little important. I am making some decisions in the near future that could be pretty awesome! More details to come!

I hope everyone has a fabulous Thursday morning :) Stay warm!!

This is why I am totally in LOVE! I mean just look at Blair and Chuck....so prec!

- Anywho, Thanksgiving was a blast! I hope that everyone had a fabulous Thanks giving as well! I ordered my Christmas cards from Shutterfly and they are just the cutest things! I will be mailing those out in the next few days!

- Also, I got Mum and I tickets to the Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes! The show is this Friday evening and I honestly can't wait! We both have new outfits and it twill be a show for sure! Black Friday shopping this year was a tad more tame than what we did last year- this year didn't involve the outlets at midnight- which my body (and wallet) are thankful for :)

- On Wednesday of this past week, was my bestie's birthday! I miss her so much and can't wait to see her oh so soon! This GG post is dedicated to her ;)

- One of my other besties came home for Turkey Day! We decided to do a photo shoot at the Abett Theater at the beach.....surely the pictures are hysterical! Can't wait till she moves back here :)

Once again, this is a random post....my thoughts don't really flow...but hey, I give myself permission to be that way! I hope everyone has a great Monday night and remember, Gossip Girl at 9!!! Happy happy Monday!!!!

Lovely Tuesday

I found this quote this morning and thought it was cute..

"A Bulldog fan is someone who....bleeds red and black. Knows the word 'dog' is pronounced 'dawg.' Refuses to wear orange and blue. Knows the only thing Florida is good for is it's beaches. Has a pet named Herschel and can bark on command. Wonders why everyone makes a fuss over Athens, Greece. Thinks britches only come in silver. Was born to yell, 'how 'bout them dawgs.'"

I thought this was appropriate, especially after this weekend's game. Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Monday

So, it's back to work today, after a MUCH deserved long weekend. Auburn was a ton of fun and I am so happy that I went. I met a lot of great people that were just the most welcoming and sweetest. I even met some Tri Delt's that were just so sweet and fun! It was a very tough loss, but it was still a good game. We looked good in the first half, but that's why football is played in two halves. We sat in the student section, which was so exciting. All of the Auburn fans around us, minus the guy sitting directly behind me, were so nice and fun! Bo Jackson was even there, excepting an award- which was really, really cool! Another highlight was the eagle flying around the stadium and the 2 jets after the anthem- I get chills just thinking about it!

Jordan Hare Stadium before the game

All of the Auburn cheers and traditions were so much fun! After every win, the students toilet paper Toomber's Corner- which they aloud me to partake in! It looked like it just got done snowing! And let me tell you about Cheeburger Cheeburger- AMAZING! All in all, it was a very fun trip! I hope to make it back there some day! And I still say, Go Dawgs!
I'm excited to finally get to relax for the next couple of days. Ali arrives today and Julie on Saturday so it will be a full weekend for sure :)

The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry

This weekend I will be visiting the great campus of Auburn University. This weekend the "Deep South's Oldest Rivalry" will be taking place. This game began in 1892 in Piedmont Park in Atlanta. This game was also the beginning of Auburn's War Eagle cheer originated. Pretty cool huh? I attend Auburn/Georgia a few years ago in Athens (the Black Out game) and Auburn fans were the nicest people. They invited us to tailgate with them and they fed us the most amazing food; so I am excited to get to go to the game at Auburn. Auburn does lead the series 53-52-8. This year should be an interesting game with Georgia playing they have this year and then Cam Newton playing for Auburn. He is a beast to say the least, so I am excited to see him play in person.

I am taking Friday off, so tomorrow is my Friday. I will be traveling after my doctor's appointment tomorrow evening. Please pray for a safe trip for me.

In other news, Bush's autobiography hit the shelves yesterday. This means that he has been making appearances all over the news networks. I admire this man so much and can't wait to read his book. He is such a caring person and he has a faith in God, which is very important. Last night he was on Oprah, and he made me laugh, especially when talking about how much he aged during his presidency. He also is very classy stating that President Obama already has so many critics, and he is not going to be one of them.

Anywho, happy Wednesday! I hope that everyone has a great day! Go Dawgs!

GA/ FL and more

Today, I feel like being totally random....prepare yourself!

This past weekend was amazing- except for the loss! It was such a fun game- besides the outcome. GA fought very hard for the win, but came up short. Ansley came in town for the game and let me just say how much I miss her! She is so fun! Amanda and her boo, Michael came to the game with us as well. The seats were perfect! We were only 4 rows from the field on the GA side :) Daddy did a good job on those :) Here are a few pictures from the game. P.S. Mute Michael is a Gator

After the Gators scored to break the first tie we had with them
Before the game, when Michael wasn't so mute haha
This past weekend and week have been insane as well. My Grandmother was taken to the hospital. She is now at a rehab facility here, but still. Please remember to pray for her.
Next weekend I will be headed to Auburn, Alabama for the Georgia/Auburn game! I am so excited to get to attend this fabulous event once again! I have never been to Auburn, but have only heard good things about the city. Cam Newton will be there- and I am pumped to get to see him play in person! Auburn fans are always so fun and nice :)
Today is Friday! All I have to say is FINALLY! I stopped into Starbucks this morning, and they have now started serving the red cups! I absolutely LOVE when they start with them! It gets me in the cold weather mood! It's 65 here in the Sunshine state!
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Remember to make today beautiful and fabulous!! Oh and I almost forgot, GO DAWGS!

Thoughts on Tuesday

This afternoon Shelley has a "Seasonal Shower" out in OP but before the day slips away from me and its time to leave work for that- I will post some questions that I saw on a friend's blog....

1. If you could be best buds with a celeb, who would it be?
- Taylor Swift...I think. She seems so sweet, caring, and fun!

2. Are you a night owl or an early riser?
- During the work week, I am forced to be an early riser. During college, I was def a night owl

- Umm not too sure about this one. Maybe like GoGoGadget and not have to get up to turn on and off a light ha.

4. What is your most embarrassing moment:?
- This is tough, since I have had so many. But the one that sticks out in my head at this moment, is one year at FBC, I got sent a letter and had to say my true feelings about Casey McDonald in order to receive the letter. I mean, in front of all of camp and his fam. How embarrassing!

5. What is one thing you REALLY want for Christmas?
- WOW. Hmm.....a David Yurman! I have always wanted a David Yurman ring!

6. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

- Sweet tea and a Vanilla Latte...why not have both?!?

8. Describe yourself in 3 words.
- Caring, southern, and faithful

Busy as a bee....

So, this weekend was the start to a very busy 2 weeks for me....

.....We had a wedding shower at church for Shelley on Saturday (HUGE success)
.....After the shower, Katie, Shelley and I went through all of her things, returned duplicates and purchased some necessities off of her registries. She is leaving next Monday for North Carolina :(
.....Have to find some time to get my dress pressed and my nails done and eyebrows done
.....We have another shower on Tuesday night for her....fun!
.....The rehearsal and luncheon on Saturday morning
.....Wedding after church on Sunday
.....Ansley is coming in town next week for Ga/Fl
.....then the madness begins for my fav weekend of the year!

Looking at the list, it doesn't look too busy, but let me tell ya, it just seems that there is one thing after another....which I totally enjoy!

I can't wait for the wedding and to see Shelley! AHH...just can't wait!

Happy Monday everyone!

Thoughts on a Tuesday

How I love the fall.....

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born, it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. it's being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies and coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way."

" A southern girl is a girl who knows full and well that she can open a door for herself but prefers for the gentleman to do it because it demonstrates a sense of respect. After all, every girl wants to be treated like a princess. We know how to make sweet tea and grits while telling you everything about any football team in the SEC. We pick our battles and fight with the heart of a pit bull while still maintaining grace and elegance. Our mystique is that of a soft-spoken, mild-mannered southern bell who could direct an army, loves her momma and will always be daddy's little girl."

"Southern girls are God's gift to the entire male population. There is absolutely no woman finer than one raised below the Mason-Dixon line. And once you go southern, may the good Lord help you, you never go back."
- Kenny Chesney

Today, I will chose to make today better than yesterday!

In the words of Sara Bareilles....

"You've got opinions,
we're all entitled to them,
but I never asked...

Who cares if you disagree? You are not me,
Who made you king of anything
So, you dare tell me who to be
Who died and made you king of anything?

I'm not the one who's lost
With no direction, oh
But you'll never see"

Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone has a great day!! :) Oh and the candle wax came out of all of my clothes...I took a paper bag and put it in between my clothes and an iron and the wax came right out! Thanks Andrea for the great idea!!

Oh Mondays

So, it has again been a while since my last post. Today has been one of those days that I wish I didn't get out of bed. I knew when I was getting ready today that I should have just gotten right back on bed instead of getting dressed and going to work. Well, I had this bright idea that since my office stunk (I mean literally- it stinks) that I was going to bring in a candle (sweet pea scent- smells wonderful....I wanted the fall/cinnamon scent but I can't have that one at work) and light it and make it smell soo much better. Well, it worked. So around lunch time, after burning it since about 7:45ish this morning I blew it out. I went to pick it up to move it, and I guess that molten hot candle wax was still liquid. And it spilled ALL OVER my clothes. My new RED polo shirt....ruined. My fav Gap Jeans....thats right RUINED. Today has just not been my day. At. ALL.

Anyway, the Braves are disappointing me...but hopefully we can pull out 2 wins in a row this week. I mean, we have to. Come on Bravos, its Bobby, Chipper, and Billy's last season...we have to win.

The wonderful Georgia Bulldogs won on Saturday which made me smile! Finally, some wins in that column.

So, now to the biggest and BEST news of all. My best friend Kelly LeAnn McKinney is ENGAGED!!!!!!! I am beyond excited for her and I can't wait for the celebrations to come. Joey, her soon to be hubs, did such a fabulous job and I couldn't be more happier for them! I have been holding this secret from her for MONTHS and I don't keep ANYTHING from her- let me tell you it was very difficult. This morning Joey sent me the following text message:

"Hey Jayme, I just want to say thank you for who you are and how great of friend you are to Kelly. I love everything about her and you are apart of that. You have been there from the start and I plan on you being there for a long long time."

Let me just say that this made me BALL. He is such a sweetheart and I am so thankful that Kelly has found such a special person.

On that note, my friend Shelley's wedding has been moved up to October 24th from December 4th. Her soon to be hubs is going to be deployed on December 1stish and as Shel would say, "I can't have a wedding without him there, now can I?" She has been such a great sport through all of this and is going to be a magnificent bride. I can't wait to stand next to her on her wedding day....that is if I beat all the odds and bets that I make it down the aisle without tripping in those heels :)

So, here is the to the rest of Monday....thankfully you will be gone in a few hours! Hope everyone has had a more fabulous day than mine has turned out to be.

GO BRAVES!!

WooHoo Fall!

This weekend was the start of my fav time of year- FALL!!!! If you know me, then you know how much I truely adore the fall! The weather, the clothes, and lets not forget the FOOTBALL! Saturday was the start of the most wonderful time of the year- college football season. If you are looking for me through these next few months, you will prob find me in front of a tv watching some game. This weekend my dear friend Amanda took me to the Samford/FSU game in Tally. We had so much fun!

This is during the half- this isn't the best pic but the only one where you can't see sweat dripping off of our faces! But lets not forget to mention the best team- University of Georgia! They won and their new freshman quarterback looked so comfortable out there! The really test comes this upcoming weekend with South Carolina- that should be a tough one!

GOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Labor Day! Have a great Tuesday...Cheers :)

Blessings

So, as I was eating dinner in a restaurant the other evening, a young fellow walked in. I smiled at him, like I usually do when I look at people, and then noticed that he had trouble walking. He was handicapped. Throughout my days, I love to people watch. When I see folks with problems I always get really upset and sad. Let's all take some time today to think and be thankful for all the blessings in our lives. This world is full of such selfish and self-centered people. If everyone were just a little more caring and loving, we may make this ole world just a little better.

On another note, my trip to Texas was awesome! Joey and I left so early in the morning but we stayed on schedule! We went to Cafe Du Monde in NOLA which was amazing, then to the Astros- Mets game...which was fabulous! The Mets ended up losing but its ok, David Wright played well! We ended up going to Austin on Thursday night (really Friday morning really early) and surprising Kelly! I had so much fun and can't wait to travel back to visit! Pictures to come!

Today is one of my girl's, Miss Sophia's, 5th birthday. Little Miss Leah's birthday was last Wednesday and Will (one of my little boys) big day was the 19th of August. I forgot to mention them but Happy birthday to all of my little ones. I love them all :) Another birthday that I forgot to mention was to my dear friend Kelli; her birthday was last week. I love her and I hope she had a fabulous day! I am actually going to lunch with her this afternoon- so I am excited to see her!

Have a great Wednesday everyone! Cheers :)

Thoughts on Tuesday

So, here are a few of my thoughts for the day...

.....its sad when you and your old friends grow apart- especially when you used to be so close- and they ignore your phone calls

.....when all you want to do is go home- the days seem to grow longer

.....how much I really look up to one of my friends for being so selfless, that she donated a kidney to someone that she knew who needed it- I wish I could be as giving as her

.....when you want something to happen- it most of time, doesn't happen

.....I can't wait to see David Wright on Thursday!

.....I feel guilty for going to Texas- leaving my Mom and Dad behind for a few days

.....I really love the summer, but I really, really can't wait till Fall!

Those are just a few of my thoughts today. Have a fantastic rest of your day! Cheers y'all!

Its been a while...

It is now August. Time really does fly by. Not much has been going on lately....

- Kelly moved to Texas and I get to ride to Austin with Joey next week and see her!!!!!!! This is going to be a fun road trip for Joey and I- we are going to an Astros game on Thursday night...they are playing the Mets haha. I am soooo excited!

- I am going to Chicago again this year in September! I am super excited about this as well! Finally getting to relax in a new and fabulous city!

- I've been trying to watch my weight and the purse. I've been bringing my lunch during the week so I am not eating out. It's been a healthy lunch :) and then after work I go to the local neighborhood high school and walk/run the track. I am still waiting to see the results of this effort haha.

- Football season is getting closer and closer!! Anyone who knows me, knows the love I have for the fall and college football. I love, love, love the smell, the feel, and just all in all the atomosphere. Its just such a fun time for all in involved. Still figuring out which game(s) I will be attending this year :)

That is about all that is happening in my world. Please remember in your thoughts and prayers my friend Laurie who, on this Friday, will be giving one of her kidneys to someone who is in need. I admire Laurie for her selflessness- it is really inspiring.

Until the next time....cheers y'all! :)

Happy July

Wow, its been a while! Today is only, I repeat ONLY Tuesday! I woke up this morning thinking it was at least Friday.

I am going to brag for a moment on my cousin Kyle. This past Saturday night, him and his band, Glorious Gunnner, particpated in the Last Band Standing at the Landing. I am so proud of Kyle and all of his accomplishments.
Until next time....sip slowly and enjoy your day!

Love Like Crazy

So, I know this is a love song, but the words in the chorus are great words to live by:

Be a best friend,
Tell the truth,
And overuse I love you.
Go to work,
Do your best,
Don't outsmart your common sense.
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy,
And love like crazy!

YAY for the week almost being over! Happy Wednesday! Take a moment today and think about everything in your life that you are blessed to have- instead of all the things that you are without.

To all of those at camp- hope y'all are having fun and see you on Friday afternoon!

Last few days.....

The last few days have been a smidge busy. On Friday, I was supposed to be on an airplane flying to the beautiful North Carolina for my friend Danny's wedding. My flight was scheduled to leave at 5:15 am from Jacksonville and having an arrival time of 9:40 am in Greensboro. Let's just say NONE of the above happened. I arrived at Jacksonville International Airport at 4:00 am and didn't leave the airport until noon. But it wasn't on a Delta plane...oh no. It was in a car. And that car wasn't heading to North Carolina. I got bumped off of 5 flights. Needless to say, I never made it to the wedding. Danny and Jenna, I am extremely sad that I didn't get to attend your big day, but know that I was there in spirit!

Over the weekend, I saw Toy Story 3, and let me just say that it was so sad. Kelly was here this weekend packing up her things (insert tears here). She will be staying at my casa this evening and will be flying out tomorrow....

Yesterday, was the hottest day ever. Our office got struck by lightening therefore our air conditioning broke. Sad day. I think that the thermometer got up to 103 degrees. Can you say YUCK?

Anywho, its back to work now. Hope everyone has a great day! Cheers!!

OH Landon

SO, many a thing to report on today! First, let me congratulate Mr. Landon Donovan and the US Soccer team with a job well done today! I am so pumped that we are advancing and will be playing on Saturday!!!!

found at nytimes.com

Yesterday was a hilarious day in my crazy life! Last Thursday I was sitting at my desk at work and my cell phone rang. It was a number that I did not recognize, so I decided to answer it. The lady on the other end of the phone said, "Hello, is this Jayme Scott" and I was like why yes it is. She told me her name and then said that she was calling from "The Bachelor." I started laughing. She said that they had received nominations for me to go on the show and they thought that I would be a great fit and they asked me to come audition for them on June 22nd (which was yesterday). I immediately asked if this was a joke and she laughed and said no. I then asked if they called everyone they received nominations for and she said no. She mentioned that I received a great deal of nominations for me (that made me feel a smudge like a loser bahaha). I said that I would come and audition...I mean what did I have to lose.

Yesterday came and went. I went to the audition with my good friend Shelley (she went for moral support but I secretly think she nominated me!). We went, we got free Bachelor pens, I was interviewed and the guy told me that I was small with a very big personality...he also told me I was funny! So now the waiting process begins!! I think it would be an absolute hoot if I got on the show, but either way, this was an experience to say the least.

I hope everyone has a happy Wednesday! Cheers!!!

GOOOOAAAALLLLL

So lately, thanks to various outside influences, have been tuning into the World Cup which is being held in South Africa this year. It is held every four years and is one of the biggest sporting events around the world. This guy has captured my attention...
His name is Landon Donovan and he is a member of the United States team. When he isn't playing for the US Team, he is a member of the LA Galaxy. He is a GREAT reason, among others, to cheer for the US in the World Cup. They are in action tomorrow against Algeria.

Today begins another work week. Mondays are just so difficult to get through. After two days off, you then have to begin another week doing the same ole, same ole. Thankfully, I will be traveling this Friday to one of my good friend's weddings, so this week won't be the same. Also, this week won't be the same because of something that I am doing tomorrow, but I will explain tomorrow about that adventure.

Anywho, Happy Monday everyone! It's summer, enjoy it!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING, ALI?

Dear Ali,

Why oh why do you keep Krazy Kasey around? As if his awkward singing wasn't enough, he was insane enough to get a tattoo on his wrist for you! This guy is totally off his rocker and you need to not give him a rose. If you need anymore help, let me know!

Love,
Jayme

Exhausted!!

This weekend was sooo busy!

1. There was a fishing tournament in St. Augustine that we were participating in. I ended up driving down there everyday over the weekend; my parents were staying down there for a much needed vacation.
2. My friend Mandy was here! She was in town for a wedding on Saturday. She stayed with me and we shopped until we literally dropped and laid by the pool and got tan and rested yesterday!
3. The first two things combined made it exhausting!!!
4. The World Cup! I may have a new love, Landon Donavan of the United States team. He def held my interest during the game on Saturday!

It was so good to see a few people this weekend that I normally don't see. I am so thankful for all those people in my life that make it enjoyable!

Also, this week is FULL of birthdays!! They include, Matt, Matt, Daniel and Kevin! Love y'all and I am sad that I will not see you on your days!

I hope that everyone has a loverly Monday!!

Live Simply

This morning, I was thinking about the small things in life that make it enjoyable.

Here are a few:

1. A good cup of Starbucks on a FRIDAY morning!
2. Singing at the top if you lungs (where no one can hear you) on the way to work on a FRIDAY morning
3. Helping someone in need
4. Laughing
5. Seeing friends you haven't seen in a while.
6. Hearing good news!

This past Memorial Day weekend my good friend Ali was asked by her boyfriend Mat to marry him. I am so happy for her! She is an amazing Christian young woman, who stands up for what she believes and puts all of her faith in God, no matter what. She will be moving to Dallas, Texas at the end of this month to continue her education at a Christian school. I wish her all the best! Here are a couple of pictures from our college years:

This weekend I get to see one of my oldest friends, Daniel! He is in town and we are going to see a movie tonight. Then tomorrow, I get to go to a frist birthday party for precious Braiden! I am so excited to see Braiden and his family! Then a little wedding planning date with Ali :)

I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday and an amazing weekend! Remember to enjoy the simply and lovely things in life!

What a week....

Last week I was in the DC/ Virginia/ Maryland area. I can not stress how much I adore some parts of this area! Every time I travel up there, I just fall in love with different parts of it. I ate in Old Town Alexandria and also went to Annapolis on this trip. These places are so cute and have sooo much history in them. And may I mention the food was fabulous! I ate crab cakes every day I was up there!!!! I met up with an old friend of mine, the only night that I had free and we went to the Wharf in Old Town and had the most delicious crab cakes and calamari ever! It was so fun to catch up with an old friend and see his perspective of living up there. I can totally see myself living there one day (maybe soon?!).

This past weekend one of my best friends (I like to believe that I have 5 best friends) moved to Houston. I have good news to report! Kel got the job at a school there and Ms. McKinney will be teaching third grade! I am so happy for her and can not wait to visit!!!

If you know me then you know that I have a fear, a HUGE fear, of planes and flying. The more I travel, the better it gets. We flew out of BWI to come home this past trip and it was awful! It was just one thing after another! I did however, read this new book that I got before I left that Kel said that I should read. The name of it is Commencement. It is about this group of 4 girls who meet their freshman day at college and then stay best friends after college. They begin to grow apart, but they always found a way to come back together. Through heartbreak, moves, new jobs, love, and life in general, they keep in touch and still keep each other a part of their lives. I am almost done with it, and I can say that I loved this book! It reminded me of some of my friends from college and I can only hope that we remain close through life's journey.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday...well really Monday but just think....we only have a 4 day week this week! YIPPIE!!!!

Crime Fighters

This past weekend was the last weekend that Kelly and I would have before she left for Houston. We had the whole weekend to ourselves. We thought we were going to have the weekend to relax, BUT little did we know that we were going to fight crime in Jacksonville!

About a month ago, Kelly's bike was stolen from her apartment's parking garage. Ever since, every time she sees someone cruising around on a bicycle, she looks to see if its hers. On Saturday night after laying out all day, we decided to walk to the Landing for dinner. We sat down at Benny's and we waited and waited and waited for someone to take our order. Well, finally our order was taken and we got done with dinner and we were walking back to the plaza. On our way, we were talking about how she was looking for her bike and how when she gets to Houston she was going to get a new one. Then we started talking about what she would do if she saw someone riding her bike. I mentioned how cool it would be to make a citizen's arrest (one of my goals ha). Lo and behold, this guy passes us riding a bike, and Kelly said, "Jayme, that's my bike!" I thought she was kidding but she defiantly wasn't.

We decided to run and follow him as he passed through the Landing. He ended up locking the bike up at a bike rack and leaving it there. Let me just mention, that Kel's bike is white with butterflies and flowers on it. We walk up to the bike, she sees that its indeed her bike, and I go and get a cop. The cop didn't understand the story, so I had to hurry him back to Kelly in case the dude decided to return and take the bike with him. Well the cop checks the serial number and finds out that it is hers and calls the crime scene people out to cut the lock off.

We didn't want to walk back to the plaza with the bike, because we had been standing by the bike with the cop for about an hour and we didn't want the guy to have seen us and then follow us. So, we called a few people who we thought would be close and no one was answering so we rode in a cop car with her bike back to the plaza.

What a weekend!!! This was the perfect weekend to just relax by the pool and that's exactly what we did! It will be very sad to say goodbye to one of my best friends, but I know that we will be visiting each other and we are still going to talk everyday like normal.

Tomorrow, I leave for the Nation's Capital. I absolutely love DC!! I will be working the majority of the time that I am up there, but I can't wait to see the sites!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and has a great day Monday (despite the rainy weather here in the Sunshine state!).

My friend Kevin....

IS AWESOME!!!

I met him when I was a freshman in college and have been good friends with him ever since.

He is from Boston, well some where in MA ha, and loves everything about up there.

He is a pilot. (Funny how I am friends with so many pilots, and I am scared of flying)

He taught me that New England wasn't a state. BAHAHAHHAHAHA

He has a huge heart and would do anything for his friends.

I will HOPEFULLY (depending on our schedules) be seeing him in DC next week and am pumped about it!

So Kevin, this BLOG'S for you!! :)

Miss you buddy!

P.S.: I really, really hope we aren't going to be matching at the wedding!

I hope everyone has a great and fun weekend! This weekend is going to be Kelly and Jayme weekend, since I found out at the beginning of this week, that she will be moving to Houston next week. I am sad, BUT this means a new place to visit!

In other news....I will be traveling next Monday to Washington DC, one of my favorite cities! It's for work, so there won't be too much time to explore the city, but still its good to get out of your familiar surroundings every once and a while. In June, I will be traveling to one of my best friend's weddings in Greensboro, NC. I'm very excited for y'all, Danny and Jenna and can't wait to see you guys!
I think the diet (such an ugly word) is going well. I can now fit in some of the pants that I couldn't have a few months ago. Now, all I have to do is find my six pack and get a good tan, and I will be good as new.
Welp, that's all for this morning.....maybe something new will come to mind throughout the day.....
Hope everyone has a great one!

For beautiful lips speak only words of kindness,

And for poise, walk with knowledge that you are never alone."

These are a few of my favorite things....

(These are in no particular order)

1. Church.

2. My family. Pretty important one.

3. Friends. They are pretty much my chosen family.

4. Sports.

5. Politics.

6. The news. I have to watch or read some form of the news every day. I believe that is extremely important to be a well informed citizen.

7. Shopping.

8. Organizing. If something isn't organized, I have to fix it!

9. Singing at the top of my lungs. For those of you who know me, know I can't sing but I love to try! There is a quote above my desk that says, "Sing out loud. Who cares what you sound like?"

10. Springtime and fall. These are two of my favorite times of year for different reasons, but mostly because the weather is beautiful those times of year.

11. Pedicures.

12. Learning new things.

13. Music. I love love love listening to music and relate different songs with different points in my life.

14. Laughing. You burn so many calories this way!

There are many more things that I enjoy but these are a few that came to my brain this morning. Every day, you should do something that you enjoy! :)

Stinkin' Exhausted

We returned from the Microsoft convention late Tuesday evening. I was so glad to be back in Jacksonville and so glad not to be sleeping and living in a hotel! The convention went well, just long days and long nights. I met a ton of new people and a few were really awesome ;).

This weekend, Kel will be graduating from JU. I am so happy for her and can't wait to spend the weekend with her and her wonderful fam.

Mercy

The wonderful sun was out this weekend, and of course, my friend Kelly and I had to enjoy it! We spent all of Saturday being lazy and laying by the pool. I can't believe that she will be graduating on May 1st, I am extremely proud of her.

In Matthew 5:7 Jesus says, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." I learned that if there is someone that you don't like, someone that has wronged you, or someone that you would think never deserved mercy, you should give them mercy. The guest speaker last night, urged all of us to pick someone in our lives that fits the above description and show them mercy today (and all week). So, this struck a cord with me. From now on, I will show those that I don't particularly care for, mercy. If everyone showed a little mercy, this world may become a better place.

On Friday of this week, I will be headed to Atlanta, to attend a convention for work. It will be a very busy weekend, and will head back on Tuesday of the following week. The thing that scares me most about this, me actually having to talk to people....devastating, I know! It was my responsibility to get everything together and ship it all up there, so hopefully, everything will turn out well!

I hope everyone has a Magnificent Monday Morning!

I don't know what I want....

so don't ask me,
cause im still trying to figure it out.
Don't know what's down this road,
im just walking.
Trying to see through the rain coming down.
Even though im not the only one,
that feels the way i do.

Im alone, on my own, and that's all i know.
I'll be strong, i'll be wrong,
Oh, but life goes on.
Oh, im just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

Got the radio on, my old blue jeans,
And im wearing my heart on my sleeve. Feeling lucky today, got the sunshine.
Can you tell me what more do i need?
And tomorrow's just a mystery, oh yeah,
but that's okay.

Im alone, on my own, and that's all i know.
I'll be strong, i'll be wrong,
Oh, but life goes on.
Oh, im just a girl, trying to find a place in this world.

Maybe im just a girl on a mission,
but im ready to fly.

This song has been in my head all day....I think these lyrics are great.

It was sooo fabulous to see my friend Casidy last night while trying on Shel's bridesmaid's dresses! I would show a picture of the dress, but I love the element of surprise :) May I just say to Shel....I love the color tangerine!

Today was an amazing Florida day! I had the windows down all day and was loving it! And once again, tomorrow should be the same...which means....thats right BEACH! I am loving my life tonight...started with a trip to Target, then working out, and now watching movies and probably throw in some West Wing! YaY!

You live, you learn

After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and changing a soul;
and you learn that love doesn't mean possession
and company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises and you begin to accept
your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of an adult not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build your roads today
because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
and futures have ways of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn that even sunshine
burns if you get too much so you plant your
own garden and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure,
that you really are strong and you really do have worth
and you learn,
and you learn..."

Lovely

This weekend was a ton of fun with some old friends. Here are a few pictures form the wedding reception (I forgot my camera during the ceremony):

DJ and I...this is actually right before I accidentally hit him in the face with the bat...sorry Deej
"I just wanna lose your love tonighhhhhhttttt"Jen, Carly, and I...wow....its been how many years?!?

I am so happy for Mr. and Mrs. David Yates! Saturday was the perfect day for them and I wish them many years of love and happiness.

This Monday certainly started out not so great. I woke up this morning sneezing and couldn't breathe due to either the outrageous pollen count or a cold. Throughout the day, I had headache that just wouldn't go away. So, hopefully, this will go away sooner rather than later! But this afternoon, things are looking better. I FINALLY got a haircut, I got to come home and relax and watch a couple of episodes of West Wing, and got to fold and put away my laundry!

Now its off to bed...goodnight :)

The best cheer you can receive....

is to cheer up the ones around you. Every morning while driving into work, I pass a couple of churches and this was on the marque in front of one of them this morning.

This weekend my two friends David and Gwen are getting married! I am so excited for them and can't wait to see all of our friends who are coming into town. It should be a beautiful weekend for a wedding in Florida.

So this week I have found myself driving down the road with the windows down (because its been absolutely beautiful here) listening to Dave. I can't wait to see him in July. I just hope he plays my favorite song. Their live albums just put me in a happy mood and makes me want to sing (it sounds fabulous, and Shelley, if you are interested I can for sure sing at your wedding!).

The opening week of the 2010 season is coming to an end and I have to say that the Braves look good this year. They won 2-3 against the Cubs and had record attendance for Turner Field during opening week. I guess fans are starting to realize that they have a shot this year for the NL Wild Card. Since this is Bobby's last season, every one is rallying behind them to win the Series this year. Good luck to the Braves tonight as they face the Giants in San Fran.

Happy Wednesday!

So, Wednesday's usually mean that the week is half over. I can't wait till this weekend, when I can relax and sleep in! This weekend my friends David and Gwen are going to become Mr. and Mrs. Yates. I am so excited for the wedding and to see some old friends.

Today, I have been thinking about how lucky we all are. We all have roofs over our heads, food in our tummies and people that love us. I think sometimes we forget and take for granted some of these things that some don't have.

Tonight is full of uploading some old pictures from the past few months and watching one of my favorite shows, The West Wing! I love this show, as I have mentioned before, and I believe that everyone can learn something from it.

Here are some pictures from the last couple of days:

There's nothing like the south in springtime...

I hope that everyone had a very Happy Easter!

I love the spring time here in Florida! The weather is just right. There is this old saying, "there's nothing like the south in springtime." What a true statement. As I am sitting here at work, we have the windows open and its such a beautiful morning. This morning the space shuttle took off from the Cape. I walked outside at 6:21 am and you could see it from our back porch. I used to want to be, among my other career aspirations, an astronaut. The only thing that held me back, I believe, was my fear of flying; that's a major one! In middle school, we were a science magnet and we used to do the space simulations all the time.

Yesterday was the opening day of baseball; another reason I love this time of year! Both the Braves and the Mets are opening today at home. The Braves have a real shot this year (I tend to say this every year).

CCR

So, this past week I have found myself listening to "Stupid Boy." It is originally sung by Ketih Urban BUT I found a version by Sarah Buxton and it is absolutely amazing! The lyrics just hit home with me and I find myself playing it over and over again. This week I have also been listening to the magnificent Creedance Clearwater Revival. They are oldies but goodies let me tell you. This music puts me in the summer mentality and just in a good mood in general.

http://www.creedence-online.net/photo_gallery/displayimage-2-15.html

I am right now using my cute, new computer! I am so excited to finally have a new laptop that wasn't made in the stone age. It is red and a dell and cute. I stayed up last night, very frustrated trying to get the internet to work on it. FINALLY, this morning I got it to work. I want to thank everyone who tried to help me get it to work- I know I wasn't the easiest person to deal with last night. I now have a webcam which I am still trying to learn how to use...I mean I just had to have it so I have to now learn how to use it.

Today is Good Friday and what a great Friday it has been. I had the day off so I layed out and just relaxed after having lunch in San Marco with Kel. It was such a beautiful day here and tomorrow is expected to be the same weather.

I am also very excited about Easter and my Easter dress. I tried it on today, just to make sure that it still fit...and it does :).

Happy Friday!

YAY!!!

I woke up this morning to a text message that I was so excited to receive! One of my best friends, whom I am have grown up with since birth, is ENGAGED! I am so excited for Shelley!

This is a pretty old picture- back from freshman year in college I think. But its the only one I could find where we weren't totally acting a fool :)

I'm so thankful to have her as a friend and in my life and can't wait for the excitement that is yet to come!

Oh and update on the Easter dress hunt...I found the perfect one :)

Rainy Days and Mondays

Today is rainy day here, so I have decided to bring a little sun to everyone! This weekend absolutely flew by. Why do weekends seem to do that? We had the banquet on Friday night, which was a treat. The food was amazing and the company wasn't so bad either. Saturday, I had the pleasure of spending the day with an old friend. My friend Lauren Carlucci :) is an amazing woman who I have had the pleasure of being friends with since my freshman year at JU. She has the biggest heart of anyone I know and she would do anything to make you laugh. I have learned a lot from Lauren and enjoy being around her. We went to the Riverside Arts Market and then much to our surprise the annual San Marco Arts Festival was Saturday as well. It was so windy on Saturday that a couple of the booths literally blew away. San Marco is just one of my favorite places in Jacksonville.

So back to Monday. Today I absolutely HAVE TO find an Easter Dress. I can't believe that Easter is this week and I still don't have a dress. Being Southern, this is just unheard of. So today, I am going to find a dress that is perfect for the occasion, hopefully.

Music Friday!

via www.avettbrothers.com

The band I have chosen for music Friday is The Avett Brothers. I have just recently started listening to them and I absolutely love them now! Some of you have probably never heard of them but you should try them out. Of the songs I have listened to so far the one that I like the most is "Find My Love." The lyrics are so real and true.

This weekend is going to be full of friends and relaxing (finally)! I will be headed to the zoo this evening for our annual banquet, where I will get to see the fantastic penguins! Then tomorrow is the Riverside Arts Market. If you haven't been to the market, may I suggest you attend. They are every weekend (April- December) under the Fuller Warren Bridge.

via http://www.riversideartsmarket.com/underbridge.html

There is a lot to do at the arts market. There is fresh produce, art for purchase and of course FOOD! I love this season and living in a place with such amazing weather!

My Little Munchkins

On Wednesday nights I have the privilege of teaching the little 4 and 5 year olds at our church. I get to spend 45 minutes with them and lets just say it feels like an 8 hour day!

This Friday night, we have a banquet at the Jacksonville Zoo. I have been wanting to go to teh zoo; there is a new penguin exhibit, Tuxedo Bay, and I absolutely can't wait! Then on Saturday, my friend Lauren and I are going to go to the Riverside Arts Market and hang around San Marco and have some fun. I haven't talked to her since she got married, we have both been super busy.

Tomorrow, I am going to start my weekly post, Music Friday. I am going to start writing about new bands I have heard or just music that has gotten me through the week.

What is the virtue of a proportional response? Why is it good?

This morning I was reading the Washington Post. One of the articles was about the healthcare reform bill that passed in Congress right before they let out for the holidays. Congress was pressured to pass the bill and just barely squeaked by. Today, Congress reconvenes for the first time since Christmas and they are now going to face the truth of the bill. They have wasted a whole year trying to get all of the kinks worked out, when they could have been working on something a little more productive. It will be 2013, if the bill passes again, before ANY changes are seen. So, a question comes up...why is this good? Why do they believe that this is the answer to the United States' healthcare problems?

These questions have yet to be answered by House Democrats who support the bill. I don't see how this will end the healthcare issue. It is a very tough for me to stand behind something that the majority of Republicans and some Democrats originally voted 'no' for. Kind of makes you think....

Meanwhile, in the world of sports, Mark McGuire FINALLY admitted to the use of steroids. No surprise here. Now, if Sammy will just admit that he used, we can finally move on from the '98 season.

I could officially stop tuning into Fox News now that Sarah Palin will be appearing. The out of work politician, who says she may be running 2012, will now have a spot on the O'Reilly Factor (one of my favorite shows). In my opinion, she will totally be discrediting the show. If Palin runs in 2012 and is supported by the GOP, they will be even more criticized by Americans.

Those are just a few of my thoughts....

I Drink From the Keg of Glory!!

It's been quite a while since I have written anything on here. So, there are a few things that I would like to mention:

Last week, this world lost a fabulous woman. Her name was Shirley Ivey and she was simply amazing. She is responsible for teaching many people from birth through adulthood. She was always someone that you could count on and look to for an encouraging smile and words of inspiration. For those of us who knew her, we are MUCH better people for having her in our lives.

Recently, thanks to several people, I have been watching all seven seasons of the magnificent show: The West Wing. For those of you who are not familiar with this show, it is about President Bartlet (played by Martin Sheen) and his staff during his 8 year term as POTUS. This show has made me a smarter person. If you have not seen this show, may I highly recommend it.

Christmas was absolutely amazing. It was very nice to relax and very nice to eat all of my favorite foods. It was also nice having some of my family here. I'm so glad that my Aunt Erin is back especially for my mother's sake. I also enjoyed seeing old friends that I haven't seen in a while. I really look forward to the New Year and wish everyone a great start to whats to be a great year!
